II Encontro da noite

Last Saturday, October 26th 2019, in the Assembly Hall of the House of Sciences Agrupación Ío celebrated the second edition of “Encontro da Noite“, to debate light pollution and the preservation of darkness.

11:00 Opening
11:15 Conference 1: The use of light in security planning: a criminological vision with a gender perspective. Anna Almécija, lawyer, criminologist, director of private security, associate professor at EPSEB-UPC and collaborator at EPSI-UAB.
12:15 Conference 2: Light pollution and the environment. Joaquín Baixeras, professor at the University of Valencia.
13:15 Conference 3: Fight against light pollution: lights and shadows of the Andalusian regulation. Jesús Navas, Primary teacher, member of Cel Fosc, gives the Astronomical Group of Málaga Sirio and Ecologists in Action.
16:30 Session of brief talks with the participation of José Enrique Alcázar, municipal industrial engineer, public lighting service of the Concello da Coruña; Ángel G. Calvo (delegate of the Spanish Lighting Committee in Galicia); Ana Ulla (astrophysics of the University of Vigo).
17:30 Workshop 1: StreetSpectra: characterizing street lamps. Jaime Zamorano, from the Department of Earth Physics and Astrophysics of the Complutense University of Madrid.
18:15 Workshop 2: How to measure light pollution and not die trying. Salvador Bará Viñas, professor at the Faculty of Optics and Optometry of the University of Santiago de Compostela.
19:00 Closing of the day in the Assembly Hall of the House of Sciences.
19:30 Conference 4: Pyrenees la Nuit. Fernando Jáuregui, astrophysicist of the Pamplona Planetarium.
