The Science Week in Madrid is one of Europe’s most important scientific events. Its main objective is to make science and technology more accessible to the general public.
It takes place over two weeks, and includes over 500 activities, workshops, exhibitions, conferences and guided tours. Around 200 organisations take part in this informative festival, ranging from foundations and universities to museums, NGOs and research centres.
Universidad Complutense de Madrid presented the ActiON Street Spectra project during a series of talks that covered the basics on light pollution and highlighted the importance of the color temperature of our lights.
The talks were followed by an 1 hour tour around the city designed to take pictures of Street lamps and their spectra. Around 50 people participated in the activity and more than 500 pictures were taken around Ciudad Universitaria during the nights of November the 2nd, the 4rd and the 11th.
The results can be checked in an online map that shows the Faculty of Physics as the epicenter of the walks.
